Observation Narrative
Maturing, second-growth year old northern hardwood forest on lower slope of a ravine/draw near its mouth at Laurel Fork. Rock fragments frequent at the soil surface. Forest composition typical of the more mesic northern hardwood forests in the Allegheny Mountain / Laurel Fork area. Oldest trees are about 80 years old and regenerated following extensive railroad logging and fires in the 1920's.
